สาระสังเขป: Discusses population of Thailand its rate of increase, nature of major health problems, and need for medical personnel. Presents physician: patient ratio in Bangkok and in the provinces. Backgrounds of Siriraj and Chulalongkorn Medical Schools are given. Reports on undergraduate teaching of preventive medicine, covering public health training, standards of diagnosis and patient care and inter-departmental relationships. Discusses the projected establishment of medical school in Chiang Mai, noting compensation of faculty and necessity of instruction and record-keeping in the English language. Evaluates present Thai medical education in terms of faculty:student ratio, training abroad, facilities, and Chulalongkorn Hospital - Red Cross Hospital relationship. Estimates future demand for physicians. Tabulates staff and teaching beds required, and doctor: patient ratio for 1958-1977.
